A Story About Appreciation

RECOGNIZING ACHIEVEMENTS

I have a niece who is gifted with creativity. She could turn a recycle box into an improvise slippers. She can make a car toy out of cardboards. I remember the time when she turns a used gift card into an improvised school ID. She created a small bookshelf out of old cardboards so she could organize her books without buying an actual bookshelf. She invented a pop corn dispenser made of unused reusable plastic cup and cardboards for use on our movie time. She also made a coaster for glasses so she could use them when she has to bring her cup of milk while doing her assignments. Practically she can turn most of the recycle and reusable stuff into a useful daily tools or devices that could have been otherwise thrown away. For most cases, her newly built devices comes with sample manuals and instructions.

Once the by-product is ready, she would come to us and present what she had invented. Explaining in details as to how the new device would work, usefulness of the gadget, and who benefit those inventions. She would remind us the device restrictions and limitations. Notably, she is open for feedback so she can better improve her design. At times, it would take days to finish a piece of her gadgetry depending on the complexity.

For adults like us, undoubtedly we can do more than that. She's only 10. At her age, her imagination is outstanding. I can recall one occasion when were watching a movie series where she was so shocked when she witness a character in the movie selling a piece of small art canvass for more than $50,000 USD. She was like – “how would that character sell that piece of art with that price?” She added with surprise, “those were just a piece of cardboard with tainted paints that I couldn't even recognize what was on it.” I was laughing so hard. So then, I responded with some vague answers. I've got to be honest, I was clueless myself. I pretty much do not have any background how canvasses market works. Or even if I do have some knowledge I guess, I would not bother exploring the options to explain the details further.

My niece has a very curious mind. She would generally ask you one question and then another which will then go on and on. I would love to do a research myself but really, art is not my specialty. Anyhow, after watching the series, she rushed to her study area. I wonder what her thoughts were why she left us from the entertainment area. I thought she's just going to finish her pending school tasks, only to see that she was grabbing a white recyclable cardboard and her painting paraphernalia. She then started to mixed the colours she prepared and poured them into her white cardboard. She let the board dry for sometime. I was so intrigued on her new project. It also came across my mind that probably she was just bored. Then the final moment comes, she was ready to show her result. She went on saying, “ladies and gent's presenting my masterpiece”. As we looked at the piece of art, we do not know if we were to laugh or would just continue to stare. We're not quiet sure what reactions we would be giving to her art work. She was literally showing a cardboard splashed with variety of colours. If you were there, you could still be able notice wet paints dripping on one of the sides. She added confidently, “who wants to buy this canvass for “only” $65,000 (Canadian Dollar). Anyone?” She sound as if she was auctioning her work of art.”

It wasn't the art portrait that I would want to emphasize in here. I wasn't thrilled on that. But it was that fact that a kid as young as her age shows boldness and fearlessness with full of excitement to showcase her talent and small achievement.

We all have our own gifts. A gift in academics. A talent to play a piano. A talent to sing or dance. One who is expert in sports. A talent to cook. The list is endless. You may not be the best, yet, nonetheless, we all are work in progress.

No matter how simple our achievements may be, let us all appreciate ourselves and be delighted to our achievements whether small or big. Regardless, those were still  GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

Let the whole world see your beauty. Show them that you are worthy because you are!

GOD has created us equally and unique. If you think that your skill sets are lacking, trust that the Lord will help you improve the gift he has given you.

Nothing is impossible to HIM. If we are to strive marvellous achievements, we must seek HIS power and guidance. Have the confidence to achieve greater things through his WILL. We are all well equipped to bring about achievements at a much higher magnitude for a greater good. Sometimes it would all start one step at a time.

As always for the best part, I would love to share these beautiful scriptures from the book of Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7‬ ‭NIV , Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NIV and 2 Timothy‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬.

Great achievements are the summations of all the little things that we do everyday. You'll never underestimate a pint-sized effort that we do at a time as it could turned out to be a tremendous victory. At the end of the day, be very proud of your small achievements, believe me, you would come through with flying colours.

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”(‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”(‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
